(This board has become really quiet since I was here a few years ago...we're getting visitors, but no posters! So I'll try and do my bit...) I know we're always talking about our favortie POTO books, etc, but is there some type of book that you wish was printed? I'd love a really deep poetical closet-drama version like Goethe's Faust that takes several readings to truly savour, (that is, if someone hasn't come up with one already...I'm terribly behind things now...if you read my post in the 'Masqerade' forum, you'll know why, and also why I'm so stuck on Faust like a record!) The original is of course, the original, and Kay's novel fleshes out the characters where Leroux's plot structure didn't allow him to. Plus there's a definitive end so sequels are out of the question for me as a rule (which is why I loathe the new ALW project "Phantom: Once Upon Another Time" which will debut shortly at Sydmonton). I am big on non-fiction companion books, so I would be interested in more densely-researched books on the various films and stage shows. As far as fiction goes, maybe a novel from Christine's perspective -- one that isn't a porn? (yes, EAAB, one was published recently. You have definitely been gone for awhile) R. (ALW got Forsyth to write that book for his sequel idea. I just wish he would at least think of a prequel...it would work better with the story. ) To be honest, I also love non-fiction companion books, (I've been thinking of doing a POTO one for a long time, but still mulling it over...there is a lot to be studied in Leroux's book too!) Yikes, a Christine 'porn' novel....? (Is that was you say has been published recently, or the allegorical 'Faust'-like idea I mentioned?) Gross! I hate it when POTO fiction, fan and professional descends to smut... what about that spiritual connection? Okay,the characters are human and also have physical needs, but this fleshy lust driven plots I've seen are horrible! Yes, I have been gone a long time...sigh! BTW--I saw in one of the links here that your cover design was chosen for a reprint of Kay's novel...that is sooooo cool! Sorry my congrats is a little late, but well done! Phantom still sets up shop on Coney Island, but this time with the Giry girls in tow. And I think he still writes an opera in the hopes of luring Christine to NYC to perform in it. As for the "PotO erotica,"as it is promoted (that's the one I meant as being published recently), I think you can find a thread about it further down. It's good for a laugh at least And thanks for congratulations. Hmm, I'm not sure where there's a decent pic of it online (last I saw the Amazon.com image was pretty crappy). As I don't own the rights to the work once it was chosen, I don't have the artwork posted anywhere (but I was given permission to post it on my new site which will be up eventually). I can't see Erik setting up on Coney island and becoming that avaricious git Forsyth turns him into...and writing a new opera set during the civil war is just corney...yuck. It just messes up the whole feeling of POTO. Okay, I need a laugh, so I'll checkout the erotic thingy,but not going to read that book....I want a laugh, not a belly ache! Wow! I love your cover for Kay's book! That is sooo 'Erik', and also has a ALW 'flair' with the candles in the darkness...congrats again! Imagine having a cover design under your belt! I wish I had more time to do some drawings myself...so much to do, so little time! I'd also love to do a comic book/graphic novel of POTO...another fun project that has to be stuck on the backburner...sigh... (Please forgive my typos everyone...you'd never think I'm a writer, but I've got this new Portugese computer, and the keys don't feel right yet, and I hate spell checking....I'll only do it for a manuscript!) It was not Susan Kay, but it was entertaining. Although, it did take place in New Orleans, and since that is where I live, perhaps thats the only reason I loved it so much.
